At the heart of the valleys, Morlaix, thanks to its sheltered arbour,
has been the core of commercial and all other surrounding activities
for centuries. There lived rich traders and shipowners and you could
recruit formidable corsair crews. Of these ceaseless trades arose the
incredible historical and architectural wealth of the city: “maison à
pondalez” unique in the world, houses with timber framing, 17th century
stone houses, alleys, terrace gardens… One of the most beautiful
heritages of Finistère.
